Ministry & Fellowship
This wonderful ministry is called Serving Our Savior (SOS)Our congregation, in cooperation with Shepherd of the Hills Episcopal Church, Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, House of Power, Unity of Citrus County, and House of Peace, runs a food pantry at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. This is spearheaded by our Social Ministry Committee. See our Photo/Video page.
Our Social Ministry Committee supports/provides: Citrus United Basket (CUB). Rides for members unable to drive themselves. The supply of home health care equipment. And, support of the Family Resource Center, in Hernando. Food is packaged on Wednesday mornings, and distributed to people in need on Thursday mornings from 9 am to 12 noon. (see our Photo page).
Our Fellowship Committee supports/provides: wonderful refreshments after each Sunday worship service (and many other happenings). Lenten soup meals. An annual tag sale. An annual strawberry social.
Craft ’n Share meets the fourth Wednesday of the month, from 10 am - 2 pm, for good conversation and great craft projects for the benefit of the church (e.g., shut-ins, WELCA events, various Citrus County non-profits, etc.)
Quilters meet the third Wednesday of each month, from 10 am - 2 pm. In 2010 alone, they donated 46 full size quilts to Lutheran World Relief; 42 baby quilts to Citrus Co.’s World’s Greatest Baby Shower; 9 baby quilts to the Pregnancy Center; and 22 full size quilts to Family Resources for Christmas. The Breakfast Group gathers each Tuesday at 8 am, at Mama’s Kuntry Kafe on RT. 44 in Inverness, for great food and conversation.
Pairs & Spares invites couples (pairs) and single people (spares) to lunch and an outing on the fourth Friday of the month, often carpooling from the church. Reservations are required by Wednesday preceding the Friday event. Sign-up in Fellowship Hall.
Hilltoppers meet for lunch once a month for an afternoon of friendship, fellowship and good food. Call the office for information about the next luncheon and with your reservation (352) 746-7161.
