  • Dawn Clark
  • Melissa Gifford
  • Jane Sundblad
  • Kathy Swartz

We thank each and every one for their dedication and commitment to aiding us all in this quest. The Committee has begun the formal process of reviewing and selecting candidates. Their first meeting as a group was held on Thursday, February 15, 2018, at 7pm. At this meeting, Pr. Connie Schmuckler from the Bishop's Office and Rev. Anna Figueiro, Dean of the Florida-Bahamas Synod's Pinelands Conference, outlined their next steps in this process. Please join us in praying for a wealth of candidates from which to choose in the very near future, and for Committee members'continued cameraderie and teamwork in this most necessary of ventures in the life of our church.

Good Shepherd Fellowship Hours Need Volunteers!

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, renowned for the warmth and cameraderie of our after-church Fellowship Hours, would like to continue to have Fellowship Hours on Sundays. Because we have fallen on times of too few volunteers to work the counters and the kitchen, which resulted in hosting only one coffee hour between Sunday Services during January 2018, the Hospitality Committee is seeking volunteers to help with this beloved ministry. As ever, the harvest are many and the workers are few, so if you feel you are hearing the call to volunteer to help out, please do.  Contact the church office to be directed to the proper folks.  We always need your assistance and would be glad to have it!

From the Office of the Bishop

December 25, 2017

Mary and Joseph were tired of walking approximately 80 miles from Nazareth to Bethlehem. She was heavily pregnant. When they got there, there was no room for them to lay down and rest. Not because people were evil…just that there was no room. Everything was packed. We know the story well--we repeat it every year.

In today’s troubled world, people are traveling many miles, escaping violence, hunger, and even death--perhaps due to a natural disaster or a corrupt government. And just like Mary and Joseph, they still find no room to rest or to settle down when arriving at their dream destination. Others are being rejected and are not accepted in the communities where they grew up, because of being different. Some religious groups have become closed groups only caring for themselves--thus loosing vitality. Many faith leaders are trying to stay healthy and are longing for help.

May the spirit of this Christmas season may be one of acceptance--or at least tolerance--of inclusiveness, and of love. On behalf of all the staff of the Florida-Bahamas Synod of the ELCA, I wish you and your loved ones a blessed, bright and hopeful Christmas and a Happy new year 2018!

Together with you in Christ,

Bishop Pedro M. Suárez

Thank you for your patience.  We have recently become a subscriber to and now may include musical selections, so we are presenting the Sunday services in their entirety, rather than separate pieces for Word and Sermon and Announcements. Shut-ins will receive copies of the CD as before. We will ask other congregants to order a CD recording only if they were sick/confined to home on the Sunday in question (homebound.)
